As the name suggests, the Climate Fund for Children and Youth, set up in September 2019, promotes climate education for children and young people taking their own climate change action, as well as sharing research data relevant to climate change with children and young people.
The foundation is managed under the same principles as the other activities and property of the foundation. The main criteria for funding from the Climate Fund for Children and Youth relate to coverage and quality of the measures proposed and the scale of the expected effects. In the future, anyone interested in supporting climate action and education for children and young people will be able to donate to the fund.
Thank you for your initiative, Jouni Keronen and Mari Pantsar!
The initiative for the fund came from an external source. Jouni Keronen and Mari Pantsar, authors of a book on leadership during the climate crisis, proposed the idea for the fund to the foundation and donated all the royalties from their book as the fund’s initial capital.
“Young climate activists have sounded a wake-up call for many people around the world, helping them to understand the urgency of curbing climate change. Inspired by young people’s efforts, we decided to donate the royalties from our book to climate action taken by children and young people, even though we think it is about time adults stepped up and took charge,” commented the authors when the fund was established.
If you would like to support the Climate Fund for Children and Youth, kindly contact Riikka Ihamuotila, secretary general of the Tiina and Antti Herlin Foundation (riikka (at) tahsaatio.fi). All donations for the Fund should be made to the Fund’s own account: FI57 5541 2820 0296 36 (OKOYFIHH).
The Police Authority has granted Tiina and Antti Herlin Foundation a permit to invite donations to the Climate Fund for Children and Youth. The permit identification number is RA/2020/1633. The permit is applicable for the time period of December 17th, 2020 until March 16th, 2021 in all of Finland except for Ahvenanmaa. The invite for donations under this permit will be ceased when the total amount of donations amounts to 10.000 euros.
